The Brand

The brand was created with a passion to help women and men feel confident in their own “Hair” like they do in their own ‘Skin”. Its aim is to help them understand their hair types and which products benefit them.

We would like to feel like someone understands your hair needs, no matter the type or texture.
Classic10 - Straight, Kinky, Wavy, Curly, Coily Hair Science aims to provide products that suit each hair type. We are passionate about hair and understand how important it is to know your hair type and which products benefit your hair texture.
We have taken time to source ingredients that are gentle on your mane, as this is your crown.

You may ask, what does SKWCC stand for? It is an abbreviation:

Straight Kinky Wavy Curly and Coily, representing a brand that caters for all your hair needs.
The aim behind creating Classic 10 was to put thought into catering for all hair types, noting that a product that will work for Straight, Wavy hair necessarily won’t work for Coily or Curly Hair.
Classic10-SKWCC Hair Science would like to offer people an opportunity to purchase salon quality products at affordable prices.

We at Classic10 are dedicated in supporting women and men to embrace their hair’s individuality.

Understanding your hair

We’ve tried to communicate this in simple terms -leaving out the complex science information for now.

Understanding your hair
texture

So, to determine your hair texture, leave your hair free from every product the next time you wash it and simply let it take it's natural shape.

  • If it dries naturally, without a bend or a curl, you have straight hair. (Type 1 Hair)

  • If it dries with a slight curl that has minimal or no bounce to it, you have wavy hair.(Type 2 Hair)

  • If it dries with a defined curl to it, you have curly hair.(Type 3 Hair)

  • If it dries to form tight curls or spirals, then you have coily /also know as kinky hair (Type 4).

Some people even have multiple curl patterns. If you’re someone who has multiple textures, choose the one that is most prominent throughout.

Understanding your hair porosity

Hair porosity is the hair's ability to absorb and retain water. There are 3 main types of hair porosity, and your type is often dictated by your genetics.

  • Low porosity: Usually takes a long time to dry without using a blow dryer or other heat sources. This hair type has difficulty absorbing hair care products.

  • Balanced porosity: Generally easy to maintain and has a natural bounce. Additionally, it can be easily styled without using a large amount of product.

High porosity: Tends to dry quickly. Moisture can leave the hair just as easily as it can be absorbed. It usually requires a large quantity of hair product and may occasionally frizz.

Understanding your hair
density

Density is the number of strands that are growing out of each square-inch of your scalp. The density of your hair will affect how well it will hold styles and react to certain products.

  • A quick and easy way to see which category your hair falls into is to take a strand of your hair and lay it next to a piece of sewing thread. If your strand is thinner than the sewing thread, then you have thin (fine) hair. If it’s thicker than the thread, your hair will fall into the thick (coarse) category. Anything in between them would be medium.

  • There’s no such thing as a hair density that’s too high or too low, and your hair density isn’t indicative of your overall health.
